“ | A deliberate underachiever, the truth is that Lance would be all right if he'd just drop the mean-spirited tough guy routine. But he's built a tiny empire around the apartments, the school and the mall, based on insolence and bullying, which is pretty much a powerful overcompensation for the lack of attention he gets from his family life. | ” |
Lance is one of the main antagonists of Stickin' Around alongside his cohort, Russell.
Appearance[]
Lance is a white, mildly tanned boy with three strands of brown hair, a round head, and three freckles on his scalp (implying an undercut or a buzzcut). He wears a dark green shirt, dark black shorts, and dark green sneakers with lighter green soles. His swimwear attire is a pair of light green swimming trunks with a red waistband.
In the interstitials, Lance wears a white shirt, light blue shorts, and brown sneakers with dark blue soles.
Personality[]
At first glance, Lance seems like the typical bully: rude, insolent, and dismissive. He goes out of his way to harass, make fun of, and all around hassle the other Latchkey Garden kids, with "Scradley" in particular being his favourite target. From giving him wedgies and poundings, to always goading him on into confrontation or petty squabbles, Lance seems to enjoy causing problems for him in particular, compared to the other kids. He sees Stacy as a rival, and brushes off the concern of his younger half-sister, Polly, at every chance he gets. All and all, Lance strives to come off as a domineering, solitary and all-around intimidating person.
However, beneath his prickly exterior, he's been described as a good kid with a soft heart[2] who does know right from wrong- it's just that he's got an image to maintain.[3] He puts great value in his friendship with Russell, from praising him for his massive stink bomb in "Report Card of Doom", to being worried about him when he reacted badly to seeing a movie of germs being killed in "Scared Stupid", showing that he isn't an inherently cruel person, just a deeply guarded one.
The other Latchkey Garden kids seem to be aware of this as well, eventually tolerating the duo as a part of their friend-group later into the series' run as weird, but ultimately harmless annoyances.

Trivia[]
- Though alluded to in the show proper, the series bible is very explicit about his rough home life; his birth father abandoned him right after he was born, and his step-father chose to care more about Polly than him.
- Oddly enough, he's implied to at least respect his mother, considering that Polly has successfully blackmailed him into compliance by threatening to tattle on him about his behaviour.
- He's revealed to have had a pet fly named Rusty in "Hippity Hop to the Top".
- Lance is implied to care more about Bradley than he lets on, with episodes such as "Voice of Doom" and "Adios, Goodbye, Sayonara Bradley" stating that his continued wedgieing and pounding of him are, in his eyes, his clumsy attempts at trying to befriend and bond with him.
- He enjoys playing baseball, nearly besting the other kids at it in "The Amazing Rubber Guy" and eventually managing to make the team with Russell, thanks to Polly's tutoring in "What's the Scoop?".
- In the French dub, Lance is renamed to Larry.
